The Wyoming season came to an end in Las Vegas Wednesday with a 77-73 collapse to Fresno State in the final few minutes.

The Bulldogs, who lost twice to Wyoming in the regular season, outscored the Cowboys 11 to 1 in the final three minutes to clinch the first round win at the Mountain West Tournament and send the Pokes home for the season.

The Bulldogs shot 21 of 22 from the free throw line while the Cowboys shot only 15 of 26. Brendan Wenzel shot 2 of four from the stripe in the first half. Sam Griffin missed two free throws, as well.

Wyoming let the game and the chance to advance in the tournament slip away after letting a nine-point lead at the 5:52 mark slowly evaporated in the four-point loss.

The Cowboys season came to a shocking end with a 15-17 record.

Wyoming held a ten-point lead before the half and looked like they could coast to the first-round win. The Bulldogs found new life. They outscored the Cowboys 19-to-six in the final 5:52 of the game.

Wyoming’s Associate head coach Ken DeWeese talked about Wyoming’s season coming to an end with the loss.

The Bulldogs will advance to the quarterfinals where they’ll face top-seeded Utah State today at 1 p.m. The Cowboys head home to Laramie to start the rebuilding process for next year.
