The Wyoming Cowboys used offense and defense in combination to put away Austin Peay 79-65 inside the Arena Auditorium on Tuesday night.

Keith Kelley had the call late in the win as the Cowboys overpowered the Governors, putting the game away with about 3.5 minutes to go. Wyoming’s Demarion Dennis and Uriyah Rojas combined for 42 points as the Cowboys improved to 3-0 on the season.

Austin Peay fell to 2-1.

Rojas took the game over and broke the will of the Governors with a career-high 22 points, including six three pointers in a hard-fought, physical game. Sophomore Abou Magassa picked up 11 rebounds, two of them offensive boards.

Rojas filled in for senior Leland Walker, who finished the night with no points. Head Coach Sundance Wicks talked about the importance of seizing the moment when it comes your way.

Wicks then went on what he called a harangue, talking about the importance of playing both sides of the game—offense and defense.

The Cowboys return to action on Saturday hosting Portland at 7 p.m. in the Arena-Auditorium.
