In Sports, much of the Wyoming offense was kept under wraps during the Thursday night scrimmage inside War Memorial Stadium.
Quarterbacks Kaden Anderson and Landon Sims each saw field time but veteran tight-end John Michael Gyllenborg and senior wide receiver Jaylen Sargent were held out of the scrimmage.
Sims hit Bricen Bentley on a deep touchdown pass in what was easily the standout play of the night. The six-foot-three Bentley made a crafty move on the score.
Head Coach Jay Sawvel has hopes that Bentley will be a playmaker this season. “I love his demeanor. He just works, and he’s very fast,” Sawvel said at the end of the evening.
The competition at running backs was competitive. Sam Scott ran for one touchdown. Dontae Burch also touched off a big run. Transfers Damashja Harris and Max White saw significant carries. Any decision about who will be the #1 in the opening game remains undetermined.
