Wyoming will field a lot of fresh faces when the Cowboys take to the field on Thursday night against Akron.

Of the 22 starters on the Wyoming offense and defense, six are sophomores and one is a redshirt freshman.

Some of the starters will be of no surprise to fans. Among them are 6-foot-4 Sophomore quarterback Kaden Anderson, weighing in at 230 pounds. The #2 QB, Landon Sims is also a sophomore. The 6-3 Sims weighs in 215 pounds. Sims played at East Central Community College in Mississippi last season where he threw for 1,760 yards while completing nearly 60 percent of his passes.

Senior running back Sam Scott measures 6-2 and weighs 227. Scott was the Cowboys’ leading rusher last season with 435 yards on 92 attempts. Terron Kellman is a junior running back. At 5-8, 210 pounds, he spent the last two seasons at Charlotte. Senior running back Max White, 5-10, 215 pounds, comes to Laramie after spending four seasons at Iowa. White is also a threat on returning kickoffs.

Wyoming will start five wide receivers. Senior Michael Fitzgerald II, at 6-6, 210, and sophomore Jackson Holman, 6-3, 207 pounds, appear on the roster as the X receivers. They’re the larger, taller, go to receivers on the outside.

The Y, or tight end receivers, are senior Jaylen Sargent and senior Bricen Brantley.

On the outside, slot receiver position, the 5-10, 173 pound Chris Durr Jr., will be doubled up by Deion DeBlanc, a 5-10, 185-pound freshman.

Returning as tight ends are 6-5, 251 pound seniors John Michael Gyllenborg and Evan Svoboda, also 6-5, 251 pounds.

Senior Jack Walsh returns with backup from junior Luke Sandy.
