The Wyoming Cowgirls won in dramatic fashion Saturday. At home, the Cowgirls stole one from Air Force with a curtain-closing shot by Grace Ellis.

Brian Kelly with the call on the wild finish. Ellis was fouled on the layup, and added another to make the final score 57-54. Ellis Wyoming was in control with 25-seconds left in the game, but Air Force responded to make the Ellis a must-have for the win. The Falcons could not put together a final play after an inbound pass was knocked out of bounds.

Head Coach Gerald Mattinson broke down the game winning play, saying Allison Fertig maintained her balance despite a lot of contact to make the pass to Ellis.

McKinley Bradshaw led the Cowgirls with 20 points. Quinn Weidemann added seven before fouling out for just the second time in 100 games as a Cowgirl. Ellis, the sophomore from Australia who had the game-winning bucket, said the team has their legs back and are nearly back to normal after the long COVID-related lockdown.

The Cowgirls will now hit the road for a pair of games next week as they travel to face Boise State January 19 at 6:30 p.m. UW will close-out the week Jan. 22 at Utah State.
