Wyoming sits on the western edge of a widespread winter storm that is hammering parts of the American South, Midwest and Northeast today through the weekend.

Potentially damaging ice and heavy snow for millions from New Mexico and Texas to parts of New England where winter is often not as welcome as it is here in the Cowboy State.

Winter Storm Fern, as it is being called, will lead to widespread dangerous travel and its destructive South ice storm could lead to long-lasting power outages and tree damage. Over 230-million Americans—two-thirds of the nation’s estimated population–will experience snow and or ice.

The storm will produce high-impacts across much of the nation that is not experienced with winter weather. Residents in impacted areas are advised to be ready and have preparations on hand. Travel will be difficult for many not used to winter-driving conditions.
