Carbon County gets first confirmed case of COVID-19

Wyoming is now reporting 26 cases of coronavirus, according to the state department of health. One is a Rawlins resident. The news of the first case in Carbon County was announced late Friday night.

Sources tell Bigfoot 99 the infected person is a hospital employee who recently traveled to areas of the U.S. known to be a hot zone of COVID-19 cases. Upon returning home, the person then had contact with co-workers and possibly others in Rawlins.

After an investigation, the state health department announced this weekend that two hospitals employees are considered qualified direct contacts. Cali O’Hare has details.

 

 

Wyoming schools to skip testing this year

Carbon County’s school districts continue to respond to the coronavirus outbreak.

Additionally, the Wyoming Department of Education has suspended the statewide assessment that students were set to take next month. Emma Diercks reports.

Officials discuss coronavirus plans in emergency meetings

Local governments in Carbon County are coming to grips with the rapid changes to normal life because of the advance of the novel coronavirus.

Both county commissioners and Rawlins city officials met in emergency meetings on Friday to discuss what steps should be taken to limit exposure to themselves and the public.

Committee moving forward with Platte Valley hospital

The Platte Valley Healthcare Project Committee has plans to appear before the Carbon County Commissioners and Planning Commission in the coming months.

They will ask for action on the property where they hope to construct a critical access hospital. Emma Diercks reports.
