The COVID-19 viral pandemic is hitting people in the pocketbook. Across the country and in Wyoming, unemployment claims are rising fast.
The U.S. Department of Labor reports more than 6.6 million claims were filed in the final full week of March. That’s an increase of more than 3.3 million claims from the previous week.
Cali O’Hare looks at the jobless numbers for Wyoming and Carbon County.
In order to reduce hold times for telephone filings, unemployment claims will be taken on specific days, based on the first letter of the claimant’s last name.
If your last name begins with A-M: file your claim on Monday, Wednesday or before noon on Friday.
If your last name begins with N-Z: file your claim on Tuesday, Thursday, or after noon on Friday.
