Carbon County residents may be subject to a mask order through the New Year. The details are unclear.

The area’s public health officer told county commissioners Tuesday that he is submitting a request to continue the current order, but did not know whether the extension is for two weeks or an entire month.

Under law, commissioners have no power to overrule the health officer’s decision, which will likely be granted at the state level by the time the current order expires on Friday. Cali O’Hare has more.
