Saratoga has a new treasurer working at Town Hall. Georgia Gayle was sworn in Tuesday night by Mayor Creed James.
Gayle’s resume shows a broad background in the private business sector. Operating out of Buford, Wyoming, Gayle operated her own engineering company, Anlogic Engineering which was involved in developing ultrasonic testing systems. She also has a background in the hospitality industry, having worked for two major food suppliers to restaurants in the region. In the 1990s, Gayle even ran a bar and restaurant in Buford named Crazy Tony’s.
She’ll have her work cut out for her at Town Hall. The treasurer’s job has been unfilled most of the year. Council members made several references to how she is plugging in numbers dating back to at least June. The issue also came up at last night’s water and sewer board meeting when Councilman Jon Nelson was asked by board member Craig Kopaz about the balance in a specific account.
Casselle is the government accounting software the Town of Saratoga uses to keep its financial records. So, there’s some catching up to do.
Also on Tuesday night, the Town Council came out of executive session and hired Sarah Laughlin as the new recreation director. After year or more of upheaval and turnovers, Saratoga Town Hall is now back at full strength and apparently working together for the first time in several years.
