In Rawlins, the rebuild of Walnut Street was hit by yet another engineering oversight. T concrete pour for the south sidewalk — more than 1,300 square yards — was left out of the bid. The discovery of the blunder comes less than two months after the council approved a $203,000 change order because required replacement of the 90-year-old sanitary sewer beneath the street was not included in the project plan. The good news is that the city’s new engineer started November 1st and he’s already working on changes in the plan review process to prevent future mistakes. Cali O’Hare has the story.
