Flags are at half-staff today. Governor Mark Gordon, in accordance with a presidential directive, has ordered both the U.S. and State of Wyoming flag be flown at half-staff statewide until midnight tonight in honor of the passing of Representative Jackie Walorski.

Walorski represented Indiana’s Second Congressional District as a Republican in the United States House of Representatives since 2013. She died Wednesday, August 3rd in an automobile accident. Walorski was outspoken in the House as a bedrock conservative.

Despite their political differences, President Joe Biden released a lengthy statement honoring the Representative last night. Walorki and two of her staffers were killed when an oncoming vehicle crossed left of center on a highway in northern Indiana outside Elkhart. The resulting head-on collision killed four people in all. Rep. Walorski was 58 years old.
