In a sign that Wyoming’s strategy for dealing with the Biden administration on energy issues is changing, Governor Mark Gordon hired a new staff member to a new position Thursday.
Jennifer Thomson will serve as Major Project Development Manager, a position intended to keep Wyoming energy projects moving forward in the face of Washington regulations.
Thomson is a Wyoming native whose experience blends private corporate world experience with a working knowledge of federal and state regulatory processes.
Thomson grew up in Cheyenne and earned her J.D. from the University of Wyoming. She started her career working for Senator Mike Enzi in Washington D.C. Next, she worked in the U.S. Department of the Interior and coordinated the efforts of approximately 35 various federal, state, Canadian, federal and provincial offices in streamlining permitting and regulatory issues for Alaska natural gas transportation projects. In 2012, Thomson moved to the Shell Oil Company, working in government relations and later as a senior advisor.
