The two dozen attorneys who threatened Republican U.S. House candidate Harriet Hageman with legal action because of her political views have not filed a formal complaint with the Wyoming Bar Association.

Although no audio or video of the event has surfaced, the Casper Star Tribune reported that Hageman told a crowd of supporters on August 3rd that the 2020 “election was rigged to make sure that President Trump could not get reelected.”

In response, the Wyoming licensed attorneys, a third of them from Jackson, sent a letter of rebuke to Hageman. The letter states. “We believe your comments about a rigged election were not supportive of the Rule of Law, have contributed to destabilizing our democratic institutions, and were inconsistent with our collective duties as members of the Wyoming bar.”

The group implied a threat of legal action. Hageman took the letter dated September 12th as a threat and posted it on her website.

Among those signing the letter was Pat Crank, who served as State Attorney General under Democrat Governor Dave Fruednenthal.

The letter states that while Hageman’s membership in the Wyoming bar does not preclude her rights to free speech, it goes onto say that her claim that the election was “rigged” interferes with the legal process and runs afoul of Wyoming Rules and Procedures governing attorneys.

Hageman responded to the letter on her campaign website, saying it is “meant as a threat” against her for holding a different political opinion that’s “shared by a majority of Wyoming voters.”

An attorney herself, Hageman cited specific questions and allegations of election fraud in swing states that have been left resolved from the 2020 Presidential Election.

The Wyoming State Bar has given no sign that it will recommend that Hageman be disciplined in any way.
