Just in time for summer, The Saratoga Town Council reveals new pool rates for the upcoming season.
With summer around the corner, the Saratoga Recreation Department is gearing up for the start of the swimming season.
At Tuesday’s town council meeting, Councilwoman Kathy Beck said residents complained about the price to swim in the town’s outdoor pool last year. Councilwoman Beck said the recreation department has issued a new set of rates just for townspeople.
Councilwoman Beck began reading the new prices. The councilwoman started with the cost of individual single-day pool access.
The recreation department offers group discounts. Councilwoman Beck read the pricing list for large parties.
Swimmers may purchase a monthly pool pass or a punch card, which is good for 12 visits to the pool. Councilwoman Beck read the monthly and punch card rates.
Season passes for youth, ages 5 to 17, are $60. Adults 18 and older pay $125. Season passes for seniors, 65 and older, cost $75. Guests may purchase a family pass as well. Pricing is the same as an adult season pass, but with $50 added per child.
People can rent the pool for after-hours private parties for $100 an hour. Parties must consist of 80 people or less.
The Saratoga pool also offers water-based fitness classes. Councilwoman Beck read the prices for the work-out sessions.
Saratoga residents receive special discounts. Councilwoman Beck read the savings townspeople will receive. The councilwoman said the new pool rates will be displayed at the town hall.
The council unanimously voted to approve the new pool rates.
With the prices set, the question remains of when the pool will actually open. Councilwoman Beck said she has been discussing the opening date with Streets Department Supervisor John Lasco. She said the pool cannot open until the potential for flooding has passed.
Councilwoman Beck said the town needs to hire more lifeguards for the pool. Anyone interested in becoming a lifeguard should contact the Saratoga Town Hall.
