Wyoming Republican Party Chairman Frank Eathorne easily fended off a challenge Saturday to secure reelection to a third term as the state GOP’s leader.
At a meeting in Jackson where members of the Wyoming Republican Party gathered Saturday, Eathorne easily beat out Converse County rancher and former state lawmaker Frank Moore. The vote was 49-25.
According to published media reports, about 50 party faithful attended the meeting. Some current state lawmakers attended the meeting. Several of the state’s top elected officials were there, as well, including State Auditor Kristi Racine, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Megan Degenfelder, Secretary of State Chuck Gray and State Treasurer Curt Meier.
Eathorne told the attendees at the Virginian Lodge ballroom in Jackson that he is a proven grassroots candidate. This is his third term as leader of the Wyoming Republican party. Vice Chairman David Holland also won re-election.
In a statement following his election to a third term as chairman, Eathorne said he would “work hard” to win over the 25 central committee people, elected at the county level, who didn’t vote for him.
