This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Saratoga Fire Department. Saturday, the company will honor our past and present firefighters with a celebration.

The Saratoga Fire Department was founded in 1923 as the Saratoga Hose Company #1. The town’s official website states that the fire department has 32 dedicated firefighters who respond to calls in and around Saratoga. Fire Chief Pat Walliser said to celebrate 100 years of protecting the town and surrounding area, he and his fellow firefighters are hosting a party at the Platte Valley Community Center on Saturday afternoon.

Chief Walliser said former members of the fire department will be on hand to reminisce about the history of the company. The fire chief recalled some of the influential firefighters from when he first joined the department.

Chief Walliser said he didn’t know for sure what former firefighters would attend Saturday’s centennial celebration. He said it depended on everyone’s schedules.

Chief Walliser said the party is free to attend, but people must pay for their drinks. The fire chief said everyone is invited to celebrate the 100th year of the Saratoga Fire Department.

The Saratoga Fire Department’s 100th anniversary celebration is Saturday, July 22nd, at the Platte Valley Community Center. Doors open at 2:00pm. A meet and greet is scheduled for 4:00pm. The cash bar opens at 5:00 and dinner is served at 6:00pm.
