The Carbon County Sheriff’s Office has changed its hours to allow deputies to patrol more often.

During the January 2nd Board of Carbon County Commissioners meeting, Sheriff Alex Bakken said an eight-hour portion of each day was not patrolled by his deputies. Sheriff Bakken said deputies will now be on patrol from midnight to 8:00am. The sheriff said the new hours will allow officers to more effectively prevent drunk driving and protect school children.

Sheriff Bakken said the new patrol schedule won’t cost his department any additional money. The sheriff said deputies will simply transition from eight to four-hour shifts.

Sheriff Bakken said the additional patrol times will allow his department to better serve the people of Carbon County. The board said they approved of the sheriff’s new patrol schedule.
