Cowgirls basketball returns to Bigfoot 99 tonight. The Wyoming Cowgirls will put their 4-0 conference record on the line with a trip to The Pit in New Mexico after one week of downtime.

The Cowgirls have enjoyed a week off since last Wednesday night’s 72-55 win over San Diego State in Laramie.

A big chunk of Wyoming’s 72 points—21 of 25 points from the bench came in the first.  Tess Barnes, who struggled early, put together a huge second half run down the stretch with 17 points in the win. Head coach Heather Ezelle:

In conference play this season, the Wyoming women have a 13.5 scoring margin and is holding its opponents to just 50.3 points per game. Cowgirl opponents are shooting under 36-percent in league action and 27.4-percent from beyond-the-arc. That all adds up to good defense.

Tonight’s opponent, New Mexico has a balanced offensive attack with four Lobos averaging 11.5 points per game or more. As a team, the Lobos average nearly 64 points per game and are allowing 60.6 per contest.

Wyoming trails in the all-time series, 44-40 overall with the last six meetings being split, at three games each.

Tip is set for 7 p.m. tonight in the Pit. We’ll be on the air here at Bigfoot 99 at 6:30 with the pregame show followed by the game.
