The newest member of the beleaguered Medicine Bow town council member has resigned because of health reasons.

At the April 8th Medicine Bow town council meeting, Jerry Wohl resigned from the board.  Last month, Wohl was chosen from three candidates to fill Sharon Kahl’s vacant council seat. Mayor Justin George read Wohl’s letter of interest during the March 11th meeting.

The past few years have been chaotic for the Medicine Bow town council. Since 2023, the northern Carbon County town has had four mayors and at least eight different council members.

Wohl’s appointment filled the last remaining council seat. However, Wohl only served on the board for three hours during the March 11th meeting.

At the Monday, April 8th meeting, Town Clerk and Treasurer Karen Heath called roll. All the members were present, except for Wohl.

Roughly 45 minutes into Monday’s meeting, Mayor Justin George read a resignation letter from Wohl. In his letter, Wohl said he is stepping down from his position due to his health.

The remaining council members voted to accept Wohl’s resignation and declare a vacancy on the board. Mayor George once again asked residents for letters of interest for the empty council seat.

Interested parties should submit their letters to the Medicine Bow town hall. A new council person will likely be selected during the next town council meeting on May 13th.
