Rawlins officials reported a successful Interstate 80 cleanup event.

The City of Rawlins participates in the Wyoming Department of Transportation’s Adopt-A-Highway program. As part of that commitment, city employees volunteer every spring and fall to remove litter from Interstate 80.

Speaking at the October 6th Rawlins City Council meeting, City Manager Matt Hall said that city employees, including himself, completed their fall I‑80 cleanup on September 23rd. Hall announced that they collected more than 300 pounds of trash and thanked everyone who took part in the effort.

The city is also encouraging the public to help keep the community clean. Residents can choose to adopt a street for spring and fall cleanups or maintain and improve one of the city’s 10 parks. Volunteers can choose their own cleanup times, and the city will provide free bags and safety vests at the Rawlins Family Recreation Center. For more information, call Rawlins Community Relations Officer Mira Miller at 328‑4500 extension 1022.
