Today’s Headlines:

  • During last week’s Carbon County Council of Governments meeting, representatives from the 2018 ad-hoc committee for the 5th Penny Tax gave an update on the committee’s progress so far, noting all educational materials for this year’s campaign will be printed and distributed in April.
  • Winter is over, So that means road construction season is just around the corner. The Wyoming Department of Transportation has several projects scheduled to take place in Carbon County along the interstate and north of Rawlins. Work is projected to begin within a couple of weeks.
  • The Boys and Girls Club of Carbon County is one of the many area nonprofits that recently received notice that a major funding stream will soon be reduced or even eliminated. In response, the Club, which has struggled for the last year due to funding cuts, is making another push to stave off closing its doors.
  • Some changes to hunting regulations within the Laramie region are anticipated to be made for big game species in limited quota hunt areas for the 2018 season. The Game and Fish Commission is currently taking public input on proposed changes.
  • The HEM track team is proving that a small roster can still score points and place high.
