Today’s Headlines:
- The biggest story in the state is Josh Allen, who will always be a Wyoming Cowboy. And now, he’s also a Buffalo Bill. You can hear Buffalo fans going crazy as Commissioner Roger Goodell made the announcement last night on the NFL network. Passed over by the Browns and the Broncos, and the third quarterback to be selected, Allen flashed the Wyoming Bucking horse logo and said he was “on top of the world”.
- Back here at home, with industry in the form of wind energy production plants, big and small, on the horizon for the northern end of Carbon County, Game and Fish is implementing a study to see how the projects will impact the local pronghorn population.
- This weekend, the Rawlins Police Department will join more than 5,600 other collection sites across the country for the Drug Enforcement Agency’s National Drug Take Back Day.
- Also tomorrow in Rawlins, residents will be pitching in for the community-wide cleanup event. Anyone interested in participating should meet at 9 am tomorrow morning at Bolton Park. Water and Gatorade will be provided. For more information, call Sheri Shillinger at 328-4515.
- When it comes to being prepared for an emergency, Wyoming lags behind most of the country, according to a report from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Locally, the county Local Emergency Planning Committee has initiatives in place to improve effective response in times of need.
- Just a quick note, Carbon County Road and Bridge boss, Bill Nation, told Bigfoot99 on Thursday evening that crews finished plowing WYO 71, also known as Sage Creek Road and the South Road from Rawlins to the Forest on Thursday. Nation said more that a half-dozen eight-foot drifts were blown out and the road is open all the way to the forest. So, if you are looking to escape out of your cabin and cool off that spring fever, a trek down the South Road to the forest is fun and inexpensive. Take a coat, it is still winter down that way.
- The weekend will be jam packed for the Carbon County sports as it’s crunch time on the track. It was also a historical evening for the University of Wyoming. GO POKES!
