Rawlins City Council will vote “no action” on garbage collection issue
During a public meeting tonight, the outgoing Rawlins City Council will follow the advice of its Casper attorney and vote “no action” on items discussed behind closed doors in April.
The vote appears to be both an admission that it broke the law during an Executive Session and a legal Hail Mary thrown in hopes of making the matter go away. Whether the maneuver will succeed or not will be decided by a court at a later date.
Despite evidence to the contrary, the council has maintained that it did not make an illegal decision behind closed doors giving one of the city’s trash haulers an unfair competitive advantage over the other.
The city council will try to absolve itself of any wrong-doing tonight, but the local company that brought forth the lawsuit is looking for something more in terms of a legal remedy. Cali O’Hare has the latest in this ongoing story.
