The Carbon County Sheriff’s Office has released additional information about last week’s fatal crash near Battle Pass.

On Friday, Sheriff Alex Bakken released a statement regarding the fatal ATV crash that occurred in the Medicine Bow National Forest the previous day. In his social media post, Sheriff Bakken wrote, “On Thursday afternoon, the Carbon County Unified Dispatch Center was notified about a two-vehicle accident involving an ATV and a semi-truck and trailer on Forest Road 443 north of Bottle Creek Campground.”

Crews from South Central Wyoming EMS, the Encampment Fire Department, and the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash; however, the ATV driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Sheriff Bakken wrote that Wyoming Highway Patrol Troopers are investigating the incident.

Out of respect for the family, the Sheriff’s Office has not released the name of the deceased. Sheriff Bakken reminded everyone to drive safely while enjoying our forests.
