After a two year break, the Ag Expo is returning. The Carbon County Extension Office will hold the popular event for area fourth graders next week at the fairgrounds in Rawlins.

Krista Steiner with the extension office said it gives young people a up-close look at all aspects of farming and ranching operations. Steiner said even kids who are growing up on a ranch will learn something from the various presenters who will be holding show and tells next Thursday.

Steiner said presenters from a variety of fields will talk about wildlife, veterinary care and other skills that go into an ag operation.

About 160 fourth graders from around the county will be on hand with the school districts providing the bus transportation. The kids will break into 12 groups and rotate through the various presentations. Steiner said lunch will be provided. An obstacle course will be set up to provide exercise to work off all that youthful energy that comes from being in the fresh air.

The Ag Expo was not held in 2020 or 2021 because of Covid-related concerns. Steiner said the event was given the okay this year. It will be held next Thursday, April 28th, at the Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
