Karl Allred was sworn in as secretary of state on Monday at the State Capitol.

Wyoming Supreme Court Chief Justice Kate Smith led Allred in the oath in the Capitol Rotunda outside his new office.

Allred is a resident of Uinta County. Governor Mark Gordon, who attended Monday’s ceremony, appointed Allred from the list of three candidates submitted by the Wyoming Republican Party Central Committee.

Allred replaces Ed Buchannan, who resigned September 15th.

Allred will serve until a new Secretary of State wins the General Election in November and is sworn in on January 2, 2023.
