More than a year after Mark Strittmater went missing in the Sierra Madres during a snowstorm while hunting, the first evidence that he was in the area has been found.

The Carbon County Sheriff’s Office reported that late last month, another hunter found Strittmater’s binoculars. Last Friday, 11 searchers and a K-9 unit, searched the area where the field glasses were found. Other items were found during last week’s search.

Sheriff Archie Roybal told Bigfoot 99 that the items were found within 600 yards from where Strittmater’s truck was parked the day after he went missing.

The sheriff said his office will continue the search efforts in an effort to bring closure to the missing hunter’s family.
