The Bureau of Reclamation released the snowmelt forecast for the North Platte River Basin on Wednesday.

According to the top-line of the report, runoff in the North Platte above Glendo Reservoir is expected to be above average at 1-million-acre feet. The Bureau reports that the runoff is 105% of the 30-year average.

Current releases are 1,000 cubic feet per second (CFS) from Seminoe Reservoir through the Miracle Mile. Releases out of Gray Reef Reservoir are 500 CFS. Releases out of Glendo Reservoir are 25 CFS. The Bureau reports that no releases being made from Guernsey Reservoir, adding that releases from Glendo and Guernsey are to increase soon for irrigation deliveries.

Based on current projections for the months of May, June, and July, the releases out of Seminoe Reservoir are expected to peak around 2,600 CFS in June, while flows out of Gray Reef are expected to be in the range of approximately 1,000 to 2,600 CFS. Releases from Guernsey will be in the 2,000-to-5,000 CFS range. Pathfinder Reservoir is not expected to spill this spring. Based on current forecast Bureau forecasting, an allocation is not expected for North Platte Project contractors.
