The number of COVID-19 cases rose a bit this week at the state prison in Rawlins.

After seeing a decline to just two cases on August 6th after surging to 11 at the end of July, the Department of Corrections reported eight positive cases at the Wyoming Penitentiary yesterday. Six are among inmates, while two staff members are reportedly infected. Still, yesterday’s count is an improvement over the July 30th report, when 10 staff members and one inmate were identified with Covid.

Elsewhere in the state prison system, six positive cases are reported at the Medium Correctional Institution in Torrington and two at the Women’s Center in Lusk.
