The theft case involving the former head of the Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce has been sent to District Court.

Last month, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce was arrested for allegedly embezzling more than $77,000 from the organization.

According to Saratoga Police Chief John Moore’s written affidavit, Knotwell stated that she wrote herself checks from the Chamber’s bank account. After being fired from the organization in early January, Knotwell approached interim Chamber CEO Stacy Crimmins and confessed to stealing approximately $75,000 while employed by the Chamber.

From March 2022 through December 2025, Knotwell allegedly embezzled $77,140 through unauthorized bank transfers and checks written to herself from the Chamber’s bank accounts.

Knotwell was taken into custody on February 10th and released on a $10,000 bond.

Later in the month, the former Chamber CEO appeared in Carbon County Circuit Court, where her case was remanded to the higher District Court. Knotwell’s court appearance is scheduled for Monday April 20th.  She is charged with one count of theft.

While heading the Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce, Knotwell earned the 2023 Wyoming Chamber Director of the Year award. That same year, she was elected to the Wyoming State Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, where she served as treasurer.

Until recently, Knotwell was listed on the State Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors website. Bigfoot99 reached out to the organization for comment. In an email reply, Executive Director Heidi Peterson wrote that the Wyoming State Chamber of Commerce does not have a statement regarding the situation.

Knotwell is still listed as an ex‑officio member of the Carbon County Economic Development Corporation due to her position with the Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce. However, the county‑run website does not appear to have been updated since her arrest.

Knotwell is set to enter a plea in Carbon County District Court on April 20th.
