The high-country snowpack that feeds the Upper North Platte River Basin rose steadily through the month of March. Levels have been at near normal for the last three weeks. Rivers and creeks may stay in their banks this spring, but the county continues to plan for high water.

A meeting is set for next week where the topic will look at the possible impacts of last year’s Mullen fire which burned a lot of vegetation that traditionally drinks up the runoff. Emma Diercks has more.
