Rawlins golf course wrestling with revenue woes
Heading into next week’s Rawlins City Council capital budget talks, if not solvency, some recreation departments are struggling to maintain relevancy. Public interested in the Rochelle Ranch Golf Course is wavering, and as a result, revenues from the course are plummeting. Cali O’Hare sat down with the Rawlins City Finance Director and for a look at the numbers.
Timeline: Platte Valley Medical Clinic then and now
In Saratoga, while drama surrounded how Town Council handled the public presentation of the recent takeover of the Platte Valley Medical Clinic by a new management team, the actual transaction between the two business entities appears to have been professional and painless. Emma Diercks has been tracking the timeline from when trouble started brewing this spring between Dr. Bryan Kaiser and the medical board that oversees the clinic to the facility being transferred to Health Management Services, the operator of the town’s elder care center. Sierra Madres still under fire restrictions
Weather conditions in the Snowy Range have moderated in recent weeks, leading the U.S. Forest Service to drop fire restrictions on that side of the Medicine Bow National Forest. However, fuel moisture levels remain low on the Sierra Madre Range where Stage 1 fire restrictions remain in place for now. A news release out yesterday from the Forest Service said the restrictions on open fires in the Sierra Madres remain necessary to protect public health and safety, as well as natural resources. The restrictions essentially mean fires are only allowed in permanent fire pits or grates in established campsites. Check with the Ranger District office for the specifics on the list of regulations.
Fundraising continues this weekend for RHS athletes
Last weekend’s 2nd Annual Sprint Triathlon served as a successful fundraiser for the Rawlins High School swimming and diving teams, and the student athletes will be back at it with another fundraiser this weekend. Cali O’Hare has the details.
