Former prison employee sentenced this week

The former Wyoming State Penitentiary employee whose consensual relationship with an inmate resulted in a conviction for sexual assault was sentenced to probation this week. Shantell Ann Wyant faced up to five years in jail. Cali O’Hare was inside the courtroom for the sentencing and filed this update.

WYDOT app gets upgrades including hands-free option

WYDOT has made upgrades to the 511 app to increase traffic safety. A hands-free option gives real time information on road conditions. Another feature allows travelers to take pictures of crashes or road conditions and submit them to WYDOT, so the traffic center can share them with others. Emma Diercks has the details.

UW Extension forum addresses community needs

More than 50 stakeholders from across south-central Wyoming met in Rawlins Wednesday with representatives from the University of Wyoming Extension in a community forum. The attendees broke into focus groups to identify community needs and how UW Extension programming can help bridge any gaps. Cali O’Hare attended the forum and filed this report.

 

 

Public comment period for Encampment sewer lagoon project ends February 14

The Town of Encampment is making the design of the municipality’s sewer lagoon improvement project available for residents to review. Comments are being accepted for the February 14th meeting where the project will be discussed. Emma Diercks reports.
