Service held for paramedic Wilder
Flags across Wyoming are flying at half-staff today in honor of Wamsutter paramedic Michael Wilder, who died in the line of duty on January 11th. Governor Mark Gordon ordered the tribute earlier this week.
A procession featuring emergency responders from around Wyoming is planned in Rawlins tomorrow, along with a memorial service at the high school. Cali O’Hare has the details.
Donation information:
– In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Casper College Foundation, “in Memory of Michael Wilder,” 125 College Drive, Casper, Wyo 82601. A scholarship fund in memory of Wilder is being set up for students enrolled in Casper’s Paramedic Technology Program, from which Wilder himself graduated.
– Donations “In Memory of Michael Wilder” can also be sent to the the Town of Wamsutter, Attn: Wamsutter Ambulance Service, PO Box #6, Wamsutter, Wyo 82336. Wilder was working for the Wamsutter Ambulance Service at the time of his death.
– Donations to the family can be made directly through an account set up in the name of Wilder’s sister, Belinda Irick at the Rawlins Bank of Commerce, 221 3rd, PO Box 50, Rawlins, WY 82301.
Saratoga tables zone change request
The Saratoga Town Council this week decided not to take action on signing a rezoning application, but rather asked the landowner to obtain more signatures from other neighbors. The town itself is a property owner within 300 feet of the proposed zone change.
As such, town officials have been asked to sign the zone change application before it goes to the planning commission. That’s on hold for now. Emma Diercks reports.
City employees honored
Rawlins City Council this week celebrated two public works employees the city’s highest honors: the Max Dutton Award and Supervisor of the Year. Cali O’Hare has that story as well.
Cooper retiring from Medicine Bow school
Carbon County School District Two approved the resignation of Medicine Bow Elementary School teacher Shelly Cooper earlier this week.
Cooper, who is retiring after working for the district for more than 30 years, sat down with Bigfoot 99 to reflect on her career.
