Residents appointed to parking advisory board

Rawlins Mayor Steve Nicholson has appointed 10 members to the newly formed on-street parking advisory board. The mayor’s appointments were unanimously supported by city council. The advisory group includes eight citizens and two staff members. Cali O’Hare has more.

Saratoga FD and Black Hills Energy to discuss gas line

In Saratoga, the fire department will meet with Black Hills Energy to discuss who is responsible for plugging a leaking or damaged gas line.

The question stems from an incident earlier this month when the company refused to plug a punctured line that it had failed to mark prior to a demolition project. Emma Diercks has the story.

 

 

Cattleguard replacements slated for WYO 70

Beginning Monday, crews will begin replacing cattleguards at six locations on WYO 70 west of Battle Pass. The metal grids prevent livestock from moving along the roadway.

The ones WYDOT identified for replacement are located between Forest Road 852 on the east to the Colorado state line near Savery on the west. The contractor, Construction 71 of Rawlins, will replace the cattleguards one at a time.

Temporary traffic signals will be used to allow motorists to travel through the work zones. The work is expected to wrap up by the end of October.

 

Saratoga officials split on zoning officer funding

The Saratoga Town Council is split on how to pay for a full-time zoning officer.

A proposal voted on this week would use money earmarked for replacing police cars passed 3 to 2 this week on first reading. Emma Diercks has more.

 

 

DEC plans to install board of directors

Since its formation two years ago, the local Alliance for Drug Endangered Children — known as DEC — has worked to recognize Drug Endangered Families in an effort to break the cycle of abuse and neglect.

Now, the group is planning to make things more official with bylaws and a board of directors. Cali O’Hare reports.
