Hanna officials continue to seek more members for the town’s recreation center.
During Wednesday evening’s Hanna town council meeting, Recreation Director Kim Connolly presented her monthly rec center report. Connolly began by saying the Boys and Girls Club of Carbon County, whose Hanna branch is located in the recreation center, is looking for people to donate Christmas gifts. Connolly said the gifts must be delivered to the rec center by Monday.
Connolly said before Thanksgiving, the recreation center held a community family fun day. The rec director said 26 people attended the free event.
Connolly said the family fun day raised $40 through a dessert auction. The rec director said she thought more people should have attended the event.
Connolly said the synthetic ice rink donated by Sinclair was expected to be delivered this past Monday. The rec director said the delivery was delayed until an unspecified future date.
Connolly said this Sunday, December 17th is the Hanna Recreation Center’s Winter Bazaar. Connolly said the event will feature a chili cookoff, parade, and candlelight vigil. The rec director said she has secured nearly 20 vendors for the event.
Connolly said she has 10 more open tables available for Sunday’s Winter Bazaar.
Connolly said 271 memberships were used at the recreation center in November. The rec director said that number is the total memberships used, not the number of unique visitors.
Connolly said altogether, 477 people came to the town’s recreation center in November, but many were repeat visitors.
According to documents provided by the town, the Hanna Recreation Center costs approximately $16,000 a month to run. Connolly said in the month of November, the rec center brought in a total of $534.30.
Mayor Jon Ostling said United Healthcare offers a specific plan for Hanna residents. Mayor Ostling said for an additional $31 monthly fee, members will receive free access to the town’s recreation center.
Recreation Director Connolly said she is planning to host at least one big event every month in 2024.
The Hanna Recreation Center is offering 20% off memberships until the end of December.
The rec center’s Winter Bazaar is this Sunday, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.
