The Friends of the Little Snake River Valley Library is holding a raffle to keep the Baggs branch open.
The Friends of the Little Snake River Valley Library is collaborating with the Three Forks Ranch to raffle off a stay at the luxury resort. Baggs librarian Becka Evans said the winner will have access to all events and activities offered at Three Forks.
Baggs librarian Evans said Carbon County Library Board Chairwoman Addie Myers and Library System Interim Director Jenita Calton approached Three Forks Ranch about the fundraising opportunity, and the resort owners agreed to donate the stay.
Last year’s statewide property tax cuts reduced how much financial support the county can provide to outside agencies, including museums, senior centers, and libraries. The Carbon County Library System saw its county contribution reduced by 53 percent. After learning about the cuts, Evans said the Friends of the Little Snake River Valley Library was asked to take on the operating costs of the Baggs branch. Evans said the raffle, along with an earlier dinner fundraiser at Three Forks Ranch, is the group’s solution to raising that money.
Evans wasn’t able to provide the exact amount needed to keep the Baggs branch open, but the Three Forks getaway is valued at $10,500. Evans said that as of Wednesday morning, the library had raised roughly $4,000 in ticket sales.
Three Forks getaway tickets are $50 each or three for $100 and can be purchased from the Baggs Library or any Friends of the Little Snake River Valley Library member. The drawing is scheduled to take place on July 4th at the Little Snake River Valley Museum in Dixon. Evans said tickets will be available at the museum until the 3 p.m. deadline.
Evans said between 15 and 20 local children use the Baggs library after school each day. She stressed the importance of libraries, saying they are among the few places still offering free activities and services for the community.
Tickets for the Three Forks Ranch getaway raffle can be purchased from the Baggs Library, members of the Friends of the Little Snake River Valley Library, at the Little Snake River Valley Museum, and by scanning the QR code on the fundraiser’s flyer. Online ticket sales will end on July 2nd, two days before the July 4th drawing.

The Carbon County Library System will soon begin selling stickers as part of a countywide fundraiser. Money from each sale will go to the branch where the sticker was purchased. The stickers were donated by the Carbon County Library Foundation. Bigfoot99 and Bandit102 will have more information about the fundraiser at a later date.
