The son of a tow truck driver from Wamsutter, killed earlier in the month while helping a stranded motorist on the Interstate, has arranged a procession in honor of his deceased father.

At approximately 3:10 am, April 3rd, a semi-truck lost control on I-80, east of Wamsutter, and collided with Kirby Lugg. Lugg, 45, of Wamsutter, was recovering a vehicle from the median when he was struck by the truck. Lugg was taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbon County where he succumbed to his injuries. The semi-truck driver also died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Lugg’s son, Jeremey Mitchum, has arranged a celebration of life for his father this Saturday, April 22nd. The service will be held at the Desert School in Wamsutter at 11:00 am. Before the service begins, Mitchum is asking people to gather at the Carbon County Fairgrounds for a funerary procession.

Mitchum has asked people to arrive at the Fairgrounds at 9:30 Saturday morning. Afterwards, the procession will travel up Spruce Street and work its way to the Desert School in Wamsutter.

Kirby Lugg is survived by his wife, Shelia, and three children. Lugg and his wife were raising his grandson, CJ. To help her mother-in-law, Mitchum’s wife has created a GoFundMe in Lugg’s name. As of the reporting of this story, 167 people have contributed nearly $14,000 out of the requested $15,000.
