A manhunt continues at the south end of Carbon County for a suspect out of Denver. The Wyoming Highway Patrol along with Carbon County Sheriff’s Deputies and Saratoga Police are pursuing a suspect believed to be armed. The man wanted is wanted in connection with a drive-by shooting in Denver. The suspect apparently eluded Colorado police during a high speed police chase through Jackson and Routte Counties Wednesday night. After crossing the state line, the man crashed his vehicle in Riverside around 1 a.m. at the intersection of Wyoming 230 and 70.

Carbon County Sheriff Archie Roybal said the suspect apparently fled the crash scene on foot, abandoning his vehicle. He is described as about 30 years of age, 5’ 10” in height and weighing about 210 pounds and is pictured above. The photograph taken by a police body cam bears a time-stamp of July 3, 2021. Sheriff Roybal said it is unknown whether the unnamed suspect still sports a goatee.

A shelter-in-place order put into place for Riverside and Encampment early this morning was lifted by sunrise. A heavy police presence was reported in the area this morning, though.

Carbon County School District 2 Superintendent Jim Copeland said the Encampment School is operating on a two-hour delay.

The Grand Encampment Museum also delayed its opening. The doors at the GEM opened its doors later than usual, at 10 a.m.

The suspect remained at large late Thursday morning. Sheriff Roybal said no one was killed or injured in the Denver shooting incident to which the suspect is believed to be connected. The Sheriff offered this description of the suspect.
