Memorial Hospital of Carbon County is one of many sites to have received an Abbott machine for rapid testing of the novel coronavirus disease.

The facility also received a dozen kits specifically for testing of the virus through the Abbott machine, which can produce results in as little as five minutes.

There are currently no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Carbon County residents, although Public Health says it is “investigating 37 cases of COVID-like illnesses” in county residents — none of those cases are currently hospitalized. Three Carbon County people previously hospitalized and thought to have the virus were discharged from MHCC last week.

Meanwhile, the critical access hospital continues revamping its visitor policy to protect patients, staff and the public. Cali O’Hare reports.
