This January, Memorial Hospital of Carbon County will launch a new service line focused on mental‑health care for older adults called Senior Life Solutions.
Memorial Hospital Chief Operating Officer Stephanie Hinkle explained that the Rawlins medical center has partnered with Senior Life Solutions to support older adults dealing with depression, anxiety, or other age‑related mental‑health concerns.
Chief Operating Officer Hinkle said populations across Wyoming, including here in Carbon County, are getting older. She said Senior Life Solutions will help Memorial Hospital provide mental‑health services for that underserved community.
The Senior Life Solutions program will be managed by Psychiatric Medical Care, a Tennessee‑based behavioral healthcare management company focused on rural and underserved communities. Hinkle said Psychiatric Medical Care will supply a program director, licensed therapist, and registered nurse for Senior Life Solutions. While the new staff members will technically be Psychiatric Medical Care employees, Hinkle said they will work and function similar to other Memorial Hospital of Carbon County personnel. She also said the behavioral healthcare management company will provide an off‑site psychiatrist to prescribe medication when needed.
Hinkle said the Memorial Hospital Board of Directors agreed to partner with Psychiatric Medical Care because of its support for rural and remote communities, such as Rawlins. She said the Board spent more than a year ensuring the arrangement would benefit Carbon County residents and strengthen the hospital’s financial position.
Hinkle said Senior Life Solutions is slated to begin this January. She added that once in place, the program will be designed to make participation as easy as possible, including not requiring a provider referral.
Hinkle said that once Psychiatric Medical Care recruits the additional staff needed to run Senior Life Solutions, they will begin a county‑wide community outreach effort, focusing on senior centers. The Chief Operating Officer said the intent is to have the program ready to begin seeing patients at launch.
At that time, Memorial Hospital of Carbon County will be the third Wyoming community to offer the Senior Life Solutions program, along with Buffalo and Thermopolis.
Additional information on Senior Life Solutions will be available in the coming months, including contact options and appointment scheduling.
