Rawlins officials hold emergency meeting for unknown reasons

Rawlins City Council met in a hastily called emergency meeting Friday afternoon. The reason for the meeting remains unclear, but council members emerged from an executive session and voted to spend taxpayer dollars to hire an outside legal firm that deals with management and employee issues. Cali O’Hare reports.

 

 

County officials still awaiting flood mitigation grant approval

A flood preparation meeting set for this afternoon in Saratoga has been postponed due to the pending storm.

Meanwhile, the Carbon County Commissioners and the Conservation District are still waiting to hear from Homeland Security about whether a Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grant has been approved for the vulnerable berm at Boozer Creek south of town.

The money would address a headgate that was breached during 2016 during high-water event. Emma Diercks has the story.

 

 

Rawlins DDA honoring women of Carbon County

This year, the Equality State is celebrating 150 years of Wyoming women’s suffrage by declaring 2019 the “Year of Wyoming Women.” The Rawlins Downtown Development Authority is joining the statewide celebration by honoring the women of Carbon County, both past and present. Cali O’Hare has more.

Meningitis case reported at Rawlins Elementary School

Another health alert has been issued for a Carbon County school. This time it is a case of meningitis at Rawlins Elementary School. According to a release issued Friday, one student has been confirmed to have the disease. Authorities say it is not considered contagious. Emma Diercks has the story.
