More changes may be coming to trash hauler ordinance

In Rawlins: Not all members of the City Council voted in favor of proposed changes to the trash hauler ordinance.

With two council members absent from last week’s meeting, the first reading of a resolution amending Title 8 passed 4 to 1.

More changes to the section of code pertaining to garbage collection may be coming. Cali O’Hare was at the meeting and filed this report.

Saratoga officials working to fund full time zoning officer

In Saratoga, the Planning Commission is still working to fill the zoning officer position. Prior to tomorrow’s meeting, council representative Bob Keel and Councilman Jon Nelson plan to develop a proposal to fund the job at a full-time rate. Emma Diercks reports.

 

 

State Fair kicks off this week

The Wyoming State Fair opens to the public tomorrow in Douglas.

The business, associated trades, arts and culture of the agriculture industry will be showcased during the weeklong event.

This year’s entertainment includes a carnival, demolition derby and concert Thursday evening featuring Chancy Williams and the Younger Brothers Band. The fairgrounds are located at 400 West Center Street in Douglas.

The state fair is officially sanctioned by the Wyoming Department of Agriculture. This year’s event marks the 107th state fair.

Two just-released national reports ranked Wyoming’s education system within the top 14 of all states in the US. The surveys use several factors to calculate Wyoming’s ranking. Emma Diercks reports.

Library book sale this week

If you’re still looking for summer reading, you’re in luck. Hundreds of books are available to purchase at the Rawlins Library’s annual book sale this week.

Staff members say you’ll find some great reads in the stacks, but for one reason or another, the books can’t be added to the collection, so they’re up for grabs. Cali O’Hare has the story.

 

 

Sports: Depth puts Pokes ahead of schedule

The Wyoming Cowboy football team completed their first full week of fall camp. Joey Saverine reports that the team is further ahead of where they were last year at this time.
