State prisons seeking funding for staffing
Some of the state’s biggest prisons are understaffed. Filling the vacant positions is proving to be challenging. To address the problem, the Department of Corrections director plans to request more funds from the legislature. Emma Diercks reports.
Rawlins girl collects donations for fellow students
Schools in Rawlins received donations of bulk supplies as well as dozens of backpacks filled with things for children need to start the academic year off right. For the second summer in a row, one motivated youngster has “stuffed the bus.” Cali O’Hare the story.
WYDOT repaving in Platte Valley
In the Platte Valley, WYDOT’s Saratoga maintenance crew will repave sections of WYO 130 and WYO 230 this week.
Work begins today between Riverside and the Colorado State Line, milepost 109 to 122.
Later this week, crews will repave a section of Wyoming 130 east of Ryan Park , milepost 49 to 54. During working hours, these sections of road will be reduced to one lane with flaggers. Drivers should expect delays and use caution in the work zone.
Recreationalists urged to avoid cheatgrass treatment area
The public is asked to avoid recreating near the Encampment River next week into early September. That’s when invasive cheatgrass will be sprayed with a chemical treatment from a helicopter. Emma Diercks reports.
MHCC hosts golf tourney
The Memorial Hospital of Carbon County hosts the First Annual Foundation Fun Scramble Golf Tournament this Friday.
Funds raised during the event will go toward the purchase of a new ambulance to service the county. Cali O’Hare has the details.
