Rawlins reaches stalemate over RV parking

In Rawlins: the eight-member committee looking at the issue of recreational vehicle parking on residential streets has been unable to reach a consensus.

Despite meeting three times since October, committee members find themselves unable to agree on what measures they should recommend to city council. Cali O’Hare has the story.

 

 

Platte Valley landfill contracts set to expire

In the Platte Valley, contracts for the landfill and transfer station in Saratoga, as well as the landfill and facility in Encampment are coming to the end of their terms. The solid waste disposal direct board of directors plans to discuss possible changes to the contracts during the next few months. Emma Diercks reports.

Game wardens urge residents to leave elk alone

Ever-deepening snow across the public lands surrounding Rawlins is forcing big game herds closer to the municipality, prompting game wardens to issue reminders about safe wildlife viewing.

Several hundred elk on a hill south of Rawlins have caught the eye of local residents, but area game wardens are urging people to view the spectacular sight from a distance so that the herd isn’t forced to keep moving. Cali O’Hare has more

Saratoga working to pay outstanding bill

Last week, the Saratoga Town Council moved to pay for an outstanding bill for the boots that the volunteer fire department wears. The boots were purchased about a year ago by the previous governing body but the bill was never paid.

A budget amendment will be presented at the town council meeting next week. Emma Diercks reports.
