Healthcare committee reviews new possible hospital locations

The Platte Valley Healthcare Sustainability Project added a few possible locations for a proposed critical access hospital last week to the short list it’s been developing.

The group also discussed the pros and cons of each location. Emma Diercks has the story.

Summer concert series begins in Rawlins

Music in the Park kicks off in Rawlins this week. The summer concert series is an annual tradition.

Encampment hosts annual Woodchoppers Jamboree

While storm clouds threatened to put a damper on Encampment’s 59th Annual Woodchoppers Jamboree and Rodeo over the weekend, sunshine and pleasant temperatures eventually won out.

Crowds lined the streets for the Saturday morning parade and then packed the Encampment Riverside Lions Club Arena to watch locals and out-of-towners compete in the annual logging-themed games.

The 2019 Woodchoppers Jamboree Champions were Skyler Petit and Megan Crow.

Engineering firm gives update on lagoon project

Throughout the past few months the Town of Encampment has been working with an engineering firm to design improvements for its sewer lagoon.

The town council was presented with data Thursday evening to help narrow down the specific type of improvements that need to be made. Emma Diercks reports.

 

 

Rawlins issues preemptive strike against invasive pest

Hanging from several trees within the Rawlins Municipal Cemetery are bright green traps that may, at first glance, be mistaken for lanterns.

They’re actually strategically designed insect traps meant to trap and track the movement of an exotic pest known as the Emerald Ash Borer.

The project is a cooperative one between the municipality and the Wyoming State Forestry Division, which fears the invasive pest may be on its way to Wyoming. Cali O’Hare reports.
