Wyoming 70 opens after snowy delay

Ten days after the Snowy Range Road opened for the season, the seasonal closure of Wyoming 70 over Battle Pass was finally lifted shortly before noon Monday.

The high-country scenic byway across the southern end of Carbon County typically opens within a week or so of WYDOT crews clearing out Wyoming 130 over the Snowy Range.

Highway crews began working on the connecting route between Baggs and Encampment in mid-May. More snow since then delayed the opening.
