Memorial Hospital of Carbon County is hosting a series of health-care related events across the county over the next month.

Among the events are physicals, necessary for student athletes. The hospital’s Marketing, Communications, and Foundation Director, Stephanie Hinkle, said MMHC is offering school physicals at area high schools. Hinkle said the check-ups and results are free of charge.

Hinkle said donations are welcome and all money collected will be given to the associated school district.

On Thursday, July 20, MHCC will offer free school physicals at the HEM School in Hanna from 5:00 to 7:00pm. The following day, July 21, MHCC will be at Rawlins High School, also 5:00 to 7:00pm.

Next Tuesday, July 25th, MHCC will conduct physicals at the Saratoga Middle and High School from 5:00 to 7:00pm. July 26 and 27, hospital staff will return to RHS and Saratoga High School respectively. Both events take place from 5:00 to 7:00pm.

Hinkle said flyers for the school physicals originally instructed people to come to the MHCC Health Center in Saratoga. The hospital communications director said she wanted to ensure people understood that the health check-ups were instead taking place in Saratoga High School.

August 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, MHCC will have their mobile health clinic at the Carbon County Fairgrounds to conduct school physicals from 5:00 through 7:00pm. Hinkle said hospital staff have added more dates for students who are too busy with county fair preparations to undergo health screenings at other locations.

Hinkle said students do not need an appointment to attend any of the free school physicals offered throughout the county.

Hinkle said MHCC is also hosting a school supply drive. She said collecting classroom materials is a great way to give back to the community.

Hinkle said the Memorial Hospital of Carbon County has teamed up with different community partners to provide drop off locations for the school supplies. Hinkle said the partner organizations offer people convenient places to deliver notebooks, pencils, and other needed materials.

Hinkle said the school supply drive is an easy way for members of the community to help one another without spending a lot of money. She said any donation is appreciated.

Hinkle said every school related item is needed. She said a list of suggested material is provided on the school supply drive flyer.

Hinkle asked that all donations be dropped off at a participating location by August 11th. She said the partnering agencies will box everything up and divide the donations between the county’s elementary schools.

Hinkle said on the morning of August 1st, the Memorial Hospital of Carbon County will host a free breakfast at the Carbon County Fair Grounds for Future Farmers of America and 4-H members. The hospital communications director said pancakes, eggs, coffee, and juice will be served at the MHCC tent from 6:00 to 8:00 am.

Hinkle said many people and organizations came together to put on the free breakfast. She expressed her gratitude to the donors and volunteers.

Hinkle said after the free breakfast, children are invited to attend the 4th Annual Kids Day. She said the hospital sponsored event will offer kids between the ages of five and eight fun things to do while everyone else is participating in the county fair.

Hinkle said the children will be guided through a variety of agriculture-themed activities. Aside from being taught about the importance of honeybees and how farm equipment works, Hinkle said the kids will get to speak to older 4-H members about raising animals.

Hinkle said the Kids Day is limited to 25 participants. She said people should either scan the QR code on the event flyer or find the Facebook event page to sign up. Hinkle said the website will automatically shut down once the 25-child limit is reached.

Hinkle said the Kids Day event runs from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. She said it is free and parents are not required to stay with their kids.
