The reported resurgence of COVID-19 cases in Carbon County has caused organizers of the Passion and Pride Ball to make the event virtual this year.

In an email to sponsors, Pam Thayer said changing the annual fundraiser to an online auction only was a tough decision for both the DDA and the Soroptomists. Thayer said the change was made because of concerns over the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases. Thayer said she hopes by moving the Passion and Pride Ball online, the event will reach a larger audience than if it were live. The auction will go live on September 11th.

Meanwhile, the Wyoming Department of Health hospital tracking system reports three cases at Memorial Hospital of Carbon County. Only two of the hospital’s six adult ICU beds were open as of Thursday, according to a WDOH tracking system that keeps tabs on ICU availability in the state. Memorial Hospital in Rawlins uses the ICU beds as a COVID ward because they are the only area of the hospital with negative air-pressure and other special environmental controls.
